Gamecocks open Reedy river rivalry with a victory

Founders park:

After an eventless back and forth through most of the game, broken up only by the dynamic duo of Destino and Jones’ double and single RBI, the Gamecocks popped the seal in the 5th to take a commanding lead, scoring five runs making it 6- nil. Clemson star Beers had a late inning blast to give the Tigers their only run of the game. Thompson-Williams and Jones extended their hitting streaks both to six games. Destino went 5 for 5 with 4 RBIs to be placed in the running of TGS BAMF of the week. After pegging a few of the Tigers early, Schimdt settled in to throw 8 scoreless innings with 9 ks. USC saw Clemson’s 6 hits and raised them 6 more. This was an outmatched team all night in Columbia. Gamecocks out pitched, doubled on hitting, committed no errors (which is huge in winning), and did a better job of not leaving runners stranded.
